I-Level

I-Level was a UK Brit-Funk Group.
It was composed of 3 Members; Duncan Bridgeman, Jo Dworniak and Sam Jones.
Duncan and Jo were originally from Essex in the U.K.
The two paired up with Sam Jones who hailed from Freetown, Sierra Leone in Africa.
Duncan and Jo met through an advertisement in Melody Maker and played at the outset with the groups ‘Scrambled Ego’s’ and ‘Shake Shake’.
Sam had previously toured Europe with reggae band Brimstone.
The three obtained a contract with Virgin Records, where they had success almost immediately in 1982, in the UK, with ‘Give Me’.
The track later became a Top 5 single on the U.S. R & B charts on the Epic label.
In 1983, the chart success followed with ‘Minefield’ and ‘Teacher’ respectively.
In 1985, the album ‘Shake’ was released and caused a stir with the track ‘In The Sand’, which has become highly collectable in the U.K. on the rare groove scene.
